IT WAS A SPECIAL
EVENING --
MILITARY, LITTLE LEAGUE and CUB PARENT NIGHT
AT FIREMAN'S PARK
CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCH THROWN BY
SPECIALIST AARON GREEN!
AARON GREEN, a member
of Brenham's 2003 state tournament team, threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Tuesday, April 22 when the Brenham Cubs faced the Montgomery Bears.
Specialist Aaron Green enlisted for 3 years in the Army and just finished a year-long tour of
duty in Seoul, South Korea with Charlie Company 'Comanches', 2nd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment. He was just recently
promoted to the rank of Specialist before coming home. He will be reporting to Ft. Hood in Killeen in May, but he does
not know yet which unit he will be joining or if he will be deployed overseas. According to him, his job title was 'Crew
Engineer' because neither 'Blackhawk Mechanic' nor 'Crew Chief' was a sufficient title (but he has also referred to himself
as a crew chief or 'really nothing more than a flight attendant,' as he once told a family member).
While in Korea, he had the prestigious duty of serving as a Crew Engineer on a mission with United
States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
A question asked him, "Who works or worked you harder, his sergeant or Coach Long?
To which Aaron replied, "Coach Long!"
Peggy Schwarze would like to thank Aaron's sister, Lynette Green Nelson for obtaining the information
requested. Lynette's husband, Aaron Nelson is also serving in the US Army and currently stationed in Iraq.
A Big Thank You for your presence and support
goes out to all the military, active and veteran for your service
to our country as well as to our community;
to all the Little Leaguers for your dedication in learning the fundamentals
of the sport of baseball or softball; therefore, continuing the Cub / Cubette Tradition in years to come.
We are looking forward to seeing you take the field one day on Fireman's Park or Alumni Field;
to the Cub Parents for your dedication and support of your sons and to
the Alumni organization.
The Alumni extend our best wishes and support to the Brenham Cubs as the playoffs
begin. Go get 'em, Cubs!
The events made the evening a very memorable one as well as the performance of the Cub team!
It definitely was a "magical" evening at Fireman's Park!
